Default new shortblock or rebuild

my car has 125k miles on it. its still runs like a scalded cat but i want to hot rod it more. i was looking at polished heads and a mild cam or N2O. or maybe both. i've been told it wouldn't be a fabulous idea getting either one with the milage on my vehicle. i drive it everyday to school and work so i need it to be reliable. what would i be better doing, rebuilding my ls1 or finding a low milage short block and adding port-n-polished heads and a mild cam while the motor is out. keep in mind durabilty and reliablity and $$$ are my main priorities, and i still want to go a bit faster. thanks guys- Jim

best thing to do would be to get another motor and set it up how you want it, then pull yours and drop in the new one. you would really want to go through a low mileage motor anyway...at least I would....and put new bearings and rings in it.

I have the same amount of miles on my LS1, I was thinking of having the block machined or get a block from APE, and put forged JE pistons, and forged Eagle rods, and use my stock crankshaft. With the TSP 231/237 cam
