Question about cam only dyno numbers
I have a 2000 SS with a 229/233 .575/.585 -112lsa cam and LT headers. A few people have ridden in my car and have independently estimated 380rwhp. I put down 331 rwhp stock so 50rwhp seems reasonable for a cam and headers.
I still need to install my ported TB, LS6 intake and have it tuned with LS1 edit. I was hoping to put down 400rwhp because that seems to be the usual for cam-only cars but now I am hoping for 415+ and everyone is saying no way. I agree because the TSP 231/237 cam is in that area and it is larger than mine. But I don't understand because another guy on this board who just posted in the dynometer forum put down 431rwhp cam-only through a 4.71 geared 9 inch. That would be roughly 450rwhp if he had a stock 3.42 10-bolt. How is his cam, 244/250 .605/.615 110-lsa worth an extra 50rwhp over mine? The difference in duration is only 13/17. Is the extra lift and lsa worth that much more?
I see alot of guys gain 10-15rwhp on the intake, 5-8 on the TB and 10-20 with tuning. Thats 25-43 rwhp. I guess I have 375 and I will gain on the low side and put down 400. I just don't understand how some guys gain 20rwhp with just tuning and I might only gain 25 with a better flowing intake manifold, ported throttle body AND tuning.
Also, how bad will the 4.10 gears hurt me? The 17x11 Fikse?

Power numbers depend a lot on the car. Many cars start from stock w/ less power than others. Also, you've got to look at the whole setup. An ls6 intake is going to do a lot more for your car after a cam than on a stock engine. And, depending on the size of the cam and the stock tune of the car, the numbers gained from a tune can vary alot. Gotta look at the whole car, not just the cam

Just get the car on the dyno and see what happens.
