Question dont want to changet the valve springs all the time.

I have heard that if you get a very aggressive cam like T-rex you will have to change the springs about every 15k miles. if this is true i would like to get some insight on a cam with as much lope and hp as possible without having to change the springs all the time and having to do other up keep constantly...i drive my Z about 330 miles a week...

Thanx guys,

Tyler

Any cam with mild lobes (ie below XE, XE-R range), and soft ramp rates.

like 216/220, .525/.535 114 or similar.

Basically one with .550 lifts or lower

Yea, when swappin cams for high hp/tq, you make sacrifices. Spring life is one of the big ones. You can't avoid it with the bigger cams....there's no magic fix for it yet. Going with a milder cam is about the only way, but it sounds like you're tryin for more hp then that. There are people that have run the TR224 with 918's for 30k. It just depends on how you drive it. Don't trash her around town every five seconds and obviously spring life will be lengthened somewhat.
