What kind of gains between 6.0 H&C vs. 5.7 H&C????
I know this a very broad question but how much power can be gained going from a 5.7 to a 6.0 using a cam with the same specs and identical heads? I know that there is not a presise answer but can someone get me in the ball park.
Is there a general percentage like 3-5%?
An example would be if you had a 5.7 that put 425 to the rear wheels what would you expect a 6.0 to put to the rear wheels with the only differnece being the bore?
Thanks for any help,
Bart

Youd probably see a 5% increase in power and torque.

This is in addtition to an 80lbs gain on the nose of the car. General consensus is that the additional weight of the iron block negates the minimal horsepower gains that you will see.

Thanks y'all.
Well I am trying to decide if it is worth going to a 6.0 aluminum block over a 5.7. I can pick up a 5.7 pretty cheap and just need to figure if I can make more hp per dollar in other places than the 6.0 block. Its going in a 85 RX7.

The 6.0 block is not aluminum it is iron. The 5.7 is aluminum. Thus the weight difference. Now if you can get someone to bore out an aluminum 5.7 to 6.0 then it might be worth it, however, if they are allready there you are better off going bigger. Just stick with the 5.7 it's the way to go unless you plan on going all out.
