Oil Pressure Issues
My car once warm at idle sits at like 15-20psi til about 1300rpms.I hear everybody saying they idle at around 40ps1 when warm. I also noticed since going to Mobil 1 5W30 from regualar 10W30 its gotten lower. People mention something about the O-ring missing but ARE supplied the oil pump. Does anyone know if it has the o-ring on it. What else could cause a low reading?? could my factory gauge be broken.I'm just getting nervous that this isnt good. Once i get up over 1500rpms the gauge goes to over 40psi. Any thoughts.

Re: Oil Pressure Issues
Sounds like the o-ring is torn on the pickup tube. I had the same problem when I did my cam swap and replaced my timing set. Sure enough it was the o-ring. It would not be on the oil pump - it is on the pickup tube that gets inserted into the bottom of the pump. Check there and you will find the answer <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> and all will be good again.

Re: Oil Pressure Issues
ARE does not supply an O-ring.
When you pull your old pump off, most of the time the O-ring stays up in the hole where the pickup tube goes. You have to pull the O-ring out of your old pump and stick it back on the pickup tube.
You may need to at least loosen the pump to twist it slighly after you've dropped the oil pan.
I agree, sounds like the problem.

Re: Oil Pressure Issues
If you use the oil pump replacement instructions on my site you can see how to get to the o-ring. Autozone probably wont have it, you're going to have to ORDER it at a dealership and wait a few days. Its an easy item to tear, so buy a few.

Part number is 12557752 in case anyone needs one.
How much room will i get once the front of the oil pan is dropped?

Re: Oil Pressure Issues
fix it now!!!!
i waited on mine and figured that it would be ok, well, we took the motor apart to check the berings, and the main berings were hammered and one of my crank journals was fukked and had to be turned!
dont play around with it, just pull it apart and fix it!!!!
good luck!
