do a compression test or just pull the heads.

I Pulled The Heads But They Look Alright

My Car Was Knocking/tapping When I First Would Turn It On
And It Would Do It For About 25 Miles And Then It Would Quit
Do U Think It Might Be A Lifter

Pour gas in the ports and check em for sealing, and if the valves are out of the heads just chuck em up in a hand drill and visually check that way.

The best way is to put them in a valve refacer with an accurate chuck , then check
them with a dial indicator for runout.
