5.3 Help
I am building an iron block 5.3/4L60E for my 66 Nova and needs some advise from you engine experts.
I am replacing the stock pistons with 4.8 flat top pistons. I have a TR220 cam, stock heads with 2.0 intake 1.57 exhaust 918 springs. Intake will be the new GMPP carb/throttle body aluminum intake with an Acufab 1000cfm throttle body.
Do you see any problems, have any recommendations?

Hi Old Nova Guy: Since you are rebuilding the motor anyway why not just rebore it 120 over and make it a 5.7 Iron block motor. You need rods and pistons from a 5.7 Ls1 motor and you would have to rebalance it unless you get a whole rotating assemnly from an ls1. The cost of boring a motor is not that Much anybe $150. This way you could use 5.7 heads and parts on it. Do a search for iron block motors several people have done this. LOL

5.3 Help
The main reason for not boring the engine is nostalgia. I want to build a new generation L79 engine- 327/365 hp minimum. The 5.3 is as close to a 327 as I am going to get.

Here is a link to the car. It is further along now but still not painted. The 5.3 was put in with the old intake just to get the mounts worked out.
