I installed mine straight up dot to dot and it made *** loads of power. Now allen told me if i could have installed it on a 108icl then it would have been slightly better, but since im using a stock timing chain system i can only install it straight up.

Advancing it another 4* will run it on 104icl and definite intake PTV kissing territory (I mean piston kissing)

Ok gotcha. Allan asked me where i installed the cam and i said dot-to-dot and he also asked if i degreed the cam and i told him i was using stock timing system. Later he made the comment about i could have put it on a 108.
Thanks for making that clear Pred-Z. So i guess thats what it is on.

Hmm, interesting thread. A off-the-shelf Futral cam has 4* of advance I believe...so like someone said, on a 114LSA, you're sitting at a 110ICL. I dont know what the performance difference would look like if you took the cam and put it on a 108ICL.

Changing icl (retarding or advancing) will change valve events.
Advancing will bring the power band and power peak earlier on the rpm range. Sometimes this is done to adjust for othr parameters such as matching the powerband to the gears etc...
Some problems you might run into are piston to valve clearance, and rougher idle due to to much overlap.
