What type of new engine breakin Oil?
I get my new motor back in a few weeks and I was planning on running Castrol Synthetic Blend 10w-30 for 500 babied mi. Then switch over to Redline 10w-30, and then change the Redline again at 3000....

Re: What type of new engine breakin Oil?
I believe in using dino oil to break a new motor in since synthetics are more slippery.
Im going to use dino oil for the first 30 minutes of run time and change oil and filter (gets assembly lube out of motor with metal shavings). Then, Im going with dino oil for the first 100 miles and change oil and filter again (more metal from break in of new parts). and then, dino oil until 500 miles and then switch to synthetic.
You can never be to safe for a new motor, especially when they cost an arm and both legs <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Just stick with regular oil for the first few thousand miles, doing frequent changes (500,1000, 3000) and wait until at least 3k, maybe even 5k before going to Redline. I believe Redline even recommends to wait about 5k before using their oil. You can run synthetic in new engines but since it's good to do frequent changes, it's a waste of money to use synthetic at this point.
