Default Low Oil Pressure after cam install

What would make you loose oil pressure after a cam install? The oil pump wasn't replaced and only had 10k miles on it.

Did you replace the timing chain? If so maybe when you removed the oil pump and resinstalled it the O-ring in the pickup tube got damaged...

Nope left the origional timing chain on. Would a scratched cam bearing cause low oil pressure? I don't know if that is the case, but I am trying to find somesort of cause.

Well correct me if I am wrong but the oil pressure has nothing to do with the cam bearings... but it does have everything to do with the CRANK bearing <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> The way that I was explained oil pressure was that the reading comes from the pressure of the oil in the crank bearings

It was at 45 psi on a cold start then drops to 20 psi at idle cold. Well at the track Saturday, I think I spun a bearing. I was trying to find a reason why the low pressure so I could address it when I repair the motor. BTW I used Mobile one to lube the cam before I put it in.

Did you use any kind of assembly lube that might cause the relief valve to get stuck in the oil pump?

Anyhow, exactly how much lower is your pressure now?
