Default Patriot gold springs is 6800rpm ok?

Hardened pushrods with patriot gold springs, I'm shifting at 6800rpm is that ok? I am reading VERY RECENTLY about having to replace valve springs every so often? I don't EVER want to replace them if I can manage, so what tips you guys have? Thanks.

What cam are you running. You can't avoid not changing the springs especially with the cams most people run now. The aggressive lobes wear springs. Its a fact. You need to check them at 15k but not necessarily change them. As far as 6800 rpm, the springs should handle that just fine. I believe they were tested to 7200 rpm with no float, but the shortblock can be a different story.

What cam are you running? You will eventually have to replace the springs regardless of what rpm's you are turning to unless you're running a stock ls6 2001 cam.

This brings up a good point. Would patriot springs last longer on an ls6 cam than ls6 springs? Or would you still have to change them out eventually cause they're more brittle metal? Is it the max lift or the ramp rates that affects spring life the most?

I think the ramp rate is the biggest factor on spring life although i'm sure lift plays a big part as well.

The patriot duals should be fine at 6800 rpms. You will have to change them at some point though, unless you want to risk engine failure.

What cam are you running? The ramp rates are big deciding factor on how often you will have to check/change your springs. lift plays a roll, as well as rpms.

Is that cam one of Comp's XE-R grinds? If so, it is an aggressive lobed cam so you'll want to check the valvesprings every 15k miles or so to make sure they're still doing ok.

FWIW, I spin mine up to 6800 rpms at the track with no problems... however, my 231/237 cam is a pretty valvetrain-friendly Lunati grind, so it doesn't put as much stress on the valvetrain as an XE-R Comp Cam would.

I dunno if it is an XE-R grind. Do you guys not like this cam? I can change it out if you think there is a better cam out there. I plan on eventually getting a procharger. For now I think I'm going to run 150 shot of nitrous though.
