Good Off Idle Cam
What is a good of idle to about 6000 RPM cam?? I am looking at doing a cam install, but due to the fact that it is going into a Jeep for sand, I think I should be running something off idle or 1500 and above. Any suggestions? Am I looking at this backwards?? Should I be running a bigger more aggressive cam??

I think the cam that I'm using now would be a good selection for you. It is CompCams 206/212 .515/.522 112 grind. It basically adds more power into the lowend-lower midrange without sacrificing top end power. Off-idle power is right there as well as very responsive throttle response.
There are other "truck" cams out there that may not pull as well to 6000 rpm. Another place to check out would be Vinci High Performance. Their ASP-kicker cam sounds like a good choice too.

I think you are looking at it backwards. If this will be exclusively for the sand dunes, low rpm torque does nothing for you but dig you in. You want a good high rpm motor for the sand, and when you drive on it keep your speed up so you keep planing on the top of the surface. This is especailly true if you will be running paddle tires. I sugest using the bigest cam you are comfortable with stuffing in there. I just installed a TSP 235/240; I think that would be a good one for your application as well.
