5.3l heads on a 5.7l
earlier today a buddy of mine let me know that he has a set of heads off of a 5.3l gm truck. ive got a 2001 z28. so i looked into it a little more and it seems with those heads i would i would be around 11.2:1 compression. honestly it just seems like a cheep way to make a little more power and was wondering if anyone had any coments on why i should or shouldnt go ahead with it.

To take full advantage of the smaller chambers that the 5.3l heads offer, have your machine shop install the larger (2.00") intake valves. You can even fit the 2.02" and 1.57" valves on the factory seat rings. A bit of unshrouding in the chambers adjacent to the larger valves will also help. It'll cost a small amount of compression, but will help airflow around the valve.
Good luck,
Richard

yeah i was planning on adding a cam also. and yeah definatly was going to get them worked before putting them on. as for the cam im not planning on going with anything to radical. not a big fan of the rough idle. any suggestions on a good one to go with. and note the heads are free. the only money ill be spending on them is the work done to them.
