Default Factory Bolts?

So I'm just wondering in my quest to know as much as poss about the GenIII small block before I buy one to put in my Blazer X I started wondering about the bolts (heads/mains etc) what do most of you guys do buy a new set of factory bolts or just upgrade to something like ARP's?

Stock head, main bolts are fine for one time use only.

A lot of people use ARP's or other non-torque to yield bolts. I do.

So you think they are worth the $$$ I'm not scared to spend the cheddar I just don't wan't to waste it knowadimean? I'm not lookin to run 10's in the 1/4 but I'm lookin to put about 400-450 on the ground through an A4. And it'll be my daily.

With the right setup you could run 10s with 450 rwhp in an A4.

You're less likely to lift a head and blow the gasket in a built engine. Also, the ARP head studs preserve the threads in the block, which are shot the second time you torque normal head bolts.

Good to know so I'll go with the ARP's for sure heads and mains prolly every thing else too. BTW do they make a kit like they do for the old school SBC?

i would go check out ARP's website or give them a call. it wouldn't be cheap at all. ARP head bolts are ~$180 bucks alone.

To me that is one of those things you don't go cheap on. I've allways used their stuff on old motor builds I just wasn't sure with these new bolts.

its too bad more people don't have your point of view. i completely agree with you tho, bolts hold a motor together and shouldn't be skimped on.
