PM me if you want a used LS1 bellhousing in perfect condition. Removed from car with only 30,000 miles on the clock.

I think that figure is going to be a bit low, especially if you're paying for labor. It has been said before, but why not sell your v6 bird and buy an ls1 car? It's not like they're hard to find, and you'd end up money ahead.

He probably wants to have an LS1 car with V6 insurance prices.

If you're going to do that, it would not cost very much more to swap in an LS2, or, for that matter, a stroker LS2. Why settle?

Chances are that you are better off selling the car and buying an LS1. There are a lot of things that are different when you get down to it. Paying for labor will surely put it over the price of just getting an LS1 car.

Thanks for the replies guys...I get what you're saying Im trying to decide my car has 66k miles on it, But If I sell it That means I have to pay sales tax on another car, as well as have my insurance go up as well. Being only 20 I've being paying a ridiculous amount on insurance.

For a regular LS2 vs LS1, minimal. The LS2 has 364 cubic inches to the LS1's 346, so it will make more power. A 4" stroker is not much more (a little over $1000 more) and can bring an LS2 up to 402 cu in, with which people have made 550 RWHP with decent setups. Several sponsors can give you a quote; try SDPC or Speed Inc.

The only way I would go that route again is if I had a stripper for the track only.
It is not only a matter of motor swap, there is a lot more involved and it ends up being way expensive if done right.
Likeit is said before, just sell it and pick up a Z28 and go from there.

I'm a year into mine, and I have got in way over my head financially. I'm in a worse boat though, as I am converting a 94 3.4 V6. I've had to change basically everything

You have a 2000, so you already have the dash, gas tank, stock lid and other components that I didnt think of, so yours should be fairly easy to swap over. Engine, Harness, Tranny, Kmember, exhaust and speedo gauge cluster. I think your model has a 1 piece drive shaft, correct? I have a two piece

Are you looking for a stock V8 swap over or a high perf swap over? If the latter, you're still going to be changing a lot of things. You're going to want to get headers, an exhuast, a better clutch or converter, LS6 or Fast intake, bigger TB, bigger air lid, 12bolt or parts to beef up the 10 bolt...

How many guys on here, making mad power, haven't changed a lot of items? Look at most of the sigs.

You can pick up a used LS1 & tranny on ebay anywhere from 1500 on up. If you are going to go the hi perf route, then dont even bother, call a sponsor and have them build you up something nice

You could probably do it for $5K if you do the work and are looking to do a stock cross over, but even then thats cutting it close.

David
