Default How to make a solid lifter for checking P/V??

I thought someone had posted up how to modify a stock lifter to keep it from compressing while checking P/V clearance. I have searched for the post but can't find it. I have some "test springs" that I use, but I really want to use a modified stock lifter for a better measurement. Does anyone offer them for sale or know what mods I need to do to a stocker?

i took a stock lifter and removed the spring clip to get the inner guts out of it. Then i stacked washers of different thicknesses inside until there was no play when the cap was put back on and the clip reinstalled. At that point its solid. Just have to be sure you get the right stack up or you will end up with some play that could throw you off a tad.
