Hey guys how far did you scrape?? Do you need to get all the color off of just the gasket. I still got some off coloring and I've been going at it for an hour or so on one side.

You probably won't have to get all of the coloring off. Just scrape it very meticulously until it is ABSOLUTELY smooth on your fingers. It should be so thin it's nearly transparent.

That's a fun job isn't it? Man, what a pain!! I got mine down to where there were black shadows in a few places but it was smooth. I used a razor blade mostly. I tried Scotch Brite in a few places but didn't care for it, seemed to fall apart to much. Wipe it down good with brake cleaner as stated above to get it real clean. Also, keep a shop vac running close by to catch the chunks of gaskets.
