Default 112 or 114 LSA (not the typical question)

I will be putting a cam in my formula in the next two weeks. Between a G5X2 on a 112 or a G5X3 on a 114 which is better for power? I know both will clear stock heads, but I am still curious about a X3 on a 112 clearing. I drive the car on the street and it sees the track about once a week. I plan to spray the cam too, I hear these cams love the juice I am looking for decent power in the mid rpm range and decent power uptop.

Depends on the intake centerline. If both are ground +4, then the 114LSA will close the intake valve later and open the exhaust valve earlier. These are both good things for nitrous. But if you got the 112LSA cam ground +2, it would make more power on motor than the 114 ground +4...better valve events.

My vote would be get the 112LSA cam +2 and not +4.

X3 on a 112 lsa is a great combo, but will not clear stock heads (I wanted it, but had to notch pistons). The X3 on 114 (according to Lou and others) might feel like it does not hit as hard down low as thre X2, but it is still strong, it just pulls harder through the middle and top. The X3 makes the best peak power, and even on a 114 lsa, is a serious sounding stick.

114+2 on the G5X3 is what I'd go with. Same reasoning for the 112+2, but it will make more power.

well, I think I will be getting a G5X2 on a 112 for now. I will swap over to a X3on a 112 or an X4 this winter when I do my heads and swap over to a 90/90 setup. I guess we will see if the stock tune can handle a x2 on a 112....

Stock tune in an A4? Good luck with that.
