Default Windage Tray difference??

I did some searching on here, and google, and still didn't come up with a good answer.

I am upgrading to a TSP LQ9 402. Eagle 4" stroke crank.
Will the stock LS1 windage tray clear?? I would rather not have to cut part of my oil pickup off to make sure the pan clearance is okay.
Anyone used that crank in a 6.0 block and used the stock windage tray?? Did it just fit, or did you make a couple modifications to it?

Maybe I am wrong, but I believe it's the deflector you need to worry about. The windage tray is in the oil pan and the deflector is between the pan and crank.

You can shim it with washers. I ended up not reading about that until AFTER I beat my windage tray with a hammer and punch around the area that the rods would come in contact with the tray (I have a 4.125 stroke crank).

You have to shim the deflector tray; which includes the oil pump pickup tube. Otherwise the crank will nick the tray.

Well then, don't I feel like an idiot. Mis-informed somewhere down the line.

What exactly does the deflector do?? I would think it keeps oil splash down in the pan.
How much do these run?? And how hard is it to adjust the oil pick-up to fit with the washers?

i used some 1/8 thick shims, and locktited the stock nuts.the windage tray keeps the oil off the crank.the plate in the bottom of the oil pan keeps the oil from sloshing away from the pickup.i also have your crank, and have no problems .

I had to replace my deflector. A new one from the dealer was $23.
