Default Amsoil quieted the slaps

I just switched from the GC 0W30 to the Amsoil 5W40 european formula. I switched because the new gold GC is not the same, and the UOA on the Amsoil look really good. The Amsoil significantly quieted down my piston slap at cold start up. It is almost completely gone now. The only time it is still noticable is on warm restarts, and it is for a shorter time than with the GC 0W30. I guess the GC was a little to thin for my motor on cold starts. I probally won't do any used oil analysis since I change the oil once a year and I only put on about 2000 miles a year. Even if the Amsoil 5W40 showed higher wear numbers (which I don't think it would) I would stick with it just for the peace of mind of a quieter motor.

Sounds good to me. I've done 8 UOA's on my LS1 and the best wear numbers came in using 15w-40W synthetic. The wear numbers were noticeably lower than the same oil in 10W-30 grade. I've since exhausted that supply and will be using Mobil Delvac 1 Synthetic 5W-40.
