1. is a crank spacer needed?
2. is anything not interchangeable
3. the crate doesn't have power steering or AC compressor. Can i swap mine on? Alternator?
4. Can I fire it up on 4.8 tuning?
5. anything else I should know?

Everything will work and is interchangeable. The only thing I dont know about is if the awd t-case and autrac t-case have the same input design but I beleive I remember someone saying they do. For future reference you can go to performancetrucks.net and oyu will probably get more repsonse the truck section broke off from tech a couple of months ago.

4. Most likely it wont' fire on the 4.8 tune. Some people get lucky though. But don't expect it. Take your time too, you'll be bound to run into one problem, it's the nature of the game. Good luck!

anyone know what I have to do about transmissions?

I have a manual t-case and a 4L65E AWD trans coming

I take a guy that does a lot of swaps on anything chevy, and I asked the same question. He said, to run the AWD i have to get the whole dash, cause all the wiring run through it. Takes just what He took me.
