Default 11.1CR w/ 44 Quench VS 38 Quench?

Big difference,Whats the advantage of the 38 quench in this case and how much power would I be giving up?This is a mild H/C street car,not a race car....

I am at (+/-) .038 quench. You a get a little more compression, obviously, and supposedly less likely to detonate.... In the big picture it would not be enough to worry about. BUT, most H/C guys are trying to squeeze every last bit out!!!

Reason I ask is,my friend Vortech mic'd the GM MLS gasket and came up with .047 thinkness..I figure my quench would be .040 figuring my stock deck is .007 which is very good for a street car...I dont know if he was factoring in compressed thickness,if he wasnt then it could be closer to .038....
Thanx.....
