LS1 lifter the same found in other motors?
Hey guys, Im waiting for my lifters to come in but theyre not gonna ship for a week, and my car is a daily driver. I decided to look up the part number 17122490 for an ls1 lifter and found that its used in other model cars. It looks like autozone stocks a melling lifter for a 96 v6 camaro. Am I to assume that I can use this part to get me through the next two weeks until my set of 16 lifters come in?
Thanks,
-Tony

I am pretty sure the 96 v6 is a 60° engine not a 90°, pretty much any roller 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7 will work. I know the LT1 used the same lifters. Why are you waiting 2 wks for new lifters?

cause futral told me that they wouldnt ship for atleast a week. Theyre the only plack I know thats selling melling lifters, and they seem to be the best bang for the buck with stock rockers. Ill ask for a 97 LT1 lifter then, as the AZ part numbers are the same. The stealership wanted 56 bucks a piece for them, and theyre not open saturdays, so I would have had to guess how many were shot earlier today.

Well, heres the deal... Ive been waiting for some stock 241's to come in so that I could port them myself (actually got three heads, and extra for practice / screwup). So Id have to do heads again in a couple of weeks anyway. And since the stock MLS gaskets and headbolts are dirt cheap, it dosnt matter too much financially. Renting a car isnt gonna be too cheap itself. Everything on long island is a huge expense. Plus I actually enjoy wrenching on the car too. If things are muffed up beyond a weekend repair, then ill either rent a car, or re-register a old beat up suburban my parents have off the road. I appreciate the ideas, but ill sleep better at night knowing my baby's on the mend - and that alone is worth it.
