Default LS1 Cam Question

I have a stock Ls1 for right now and I'm looking to upgrade my cam, what would you suggest?

In the near future I'm looking to upgrade to AFR 205cc heads, Ls6 intake, and long tube headers. Hopefully there is a cam that will work great with both setups?

Wait and put the cam in when you do the heads. You will be doing the same job twice if you do the cam first. Also with out any of the suporting boltons you won't see much gain with the new cam. As far as a cam choices. Look at something like Futral's F13, Thunders Tr228, or MTI's G1.

You should do most of, or all the bolt ons before you even start thinking about a cam. If you do cam first, you will most likely be very disapointed with your results.

If you want to do the AFR 205 heads, Tony Mamo recommends the Mamo Cam for it -- 224/228 .581/.581 - available on a 112 or a 114.

You definitely want to do the bolt-ons first, or you won't realize the potential of the cam and heads.

Depending on the time frame of your 'project' you might consider throwing the cam in by itself after LTs and intake bolt-ons, say if you're going to wait a year between cam and heads due to financial constraints. Take a look at my car page (link in my sig) to see a project laid out in stages. No time frame, items in the plan depend purely on "disposable income", and explaining to the wife how the car needs the new piece. It's not begging, pleading, groveling ( ), but I do have to have my ducks in a row for spousal approval of expensive boy toys...
