Default Heads to work with C1 Hammer Cam?

I have the C1 Hammer cam (222/222, .566/.566 113lsa) and instead of a bigger cam I am considering a set of heads to go with the cam I already have installed... Anyone got any ideas? I am looking to put down over 400hp. Car has LT's, exhaust, gears, and a tune.

What are my options?

Thanks

Bob

IMO...... Small intake port volume to preserve velocity, strong midlift flow numbers .200-.550. The C1 is not very big with medium lift like a TR224, big lift numbers at .600+ don't mean much for this size cam. You want to find a head that shine's in the lift area's I posted earlier with the smallest port volume. This should make for a real noticeable increase in power throughout the powerband. I went with a ported 5.3L head to raise compression. As long as you have the 93 or so octane to support higher compression get as close to 11.0-1 as possible with a good quench setup and your set.

if its the mti cam, you might as well go with mti stage 2e heads man... i know on the last issue of gmhtp there was a girl running that little cam, with mti 2e heads and a 3500 stall i think, and she was rippin low 11's...thats good numbers..

TEA Stage 1 5.7L heads would go great with that cam. Not too much port volume (about 220cc), incredible low and mid lift numbers. The heads peak at .550 lift and taper off after .600. Stock sized valves. Mill them down to .030 (check with TEA) and you're ready to go.

BTW, call TEA, as the price of those heads is less than advertised. They can turn your stock heads around in 1 day.

my first cam was the MTI c1 hammer cam. i had some speed inc R.G.R st2 heads with it and dynoed 423hp & 407tq on speed inc's dyno. car ran 11.7's w/most all the boltons and the cam was nice. but...those days are long gone and i've moved on up like the jeffersons

Yeah that girl is my wife and that's her daily driver. The car actually had turned some high 10s with the C1 cam in better air and better track prep than the shoot out provided.

The C1 is a proven cam. We put down 408 rwhp in a 3450# sh A4 Camaro. The C1 does like a bit more static compression than some of the other camshafts. It's is volumetrically efficient cam. I would suggest a good 5.3 head. The MTI S2, ETP 4.8/5.3 street/strip or the AFR 205s. As stated above, I would mill the heads to get the SCR up to 11.1-11.4.

There's a board member here that had the same set up and added a pretty good shot of gas to the stock short block and turned 9.6s in the 1/4 mile.

I would contact HPE, ETP and AFR and get their opinions on what they have to offer. Balance the costs and go with it.

I have a set of the HPE version ETP 5.3 heads that I'm running on my wife's car now and I sure wish I'd had them when we were running the 346 with the C1 cam. My current heads flow in comparison to my previous heads, but that's technology in the works.

Port velocity is this cams friend Good luck!!!!
