Default Help with cam choice please

I have a 98 Formula that is in the process of getting a rebuilt engine. SRP in Blue Ash is doing the work for me. It sounds like the cam is junk. A lifter came apart. I have replaced the block with a 2000 out of a Z/28. The heads will more than likely be off the original engine (non WS6).
I really wanted to have SRP install their custom cam but it would require upgrading the valvetrain and I just don't have the money right now for the additional parts. My main priority is getting the car running again. But.... since I have to replace the cam anyway, why go stock if I can gain some power without replacing valvetrain?
Do you know what cam, if any will suit my wants and be worth the trouble. SRP is going to Tune it after the engine is in.
Your expertise would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jerry

Nope you are stuck with the the stock cam unless you are willing to spend the cash on new springs.

Thanks Goober, even if it was bad news. Just springs? What should that cost?

Look for a Z06 cam and springs. It shouldn't be too much. Hell, somebody on site might GIVE you a set of moderately new Z06 springs.

Good luck on your build.
