Default Stock Heads and Castings

The heads I currently have are 583 casting. One of them cracked and I was going to buy some '98 model stock heads. Will my coil packs be able to fit onto the '98 heads/valve covers? I have a 2000 Z28. What is the difference in casting anyway?

castings are pretty similar. Flow basically the same, just different valve covers. I would keep all your center bolt valve cover stuff though. Sent PM.

You should be able to pick up a replacement single head or even a pair of the 241 LS1 center bolt casting pretty reasonable. You can do this and keep your centerbolt parts intact. If you are interested, we can do you a set of stock 243 castings assembled with stock valve train for $695.00 per pair shipped to you anywhere in the US.

I just did this in reverse and the coil pack will fit just fine. You have to remove the bracket; the coilpacks bolt directly to the valve covers on the 98's. The coil pack on the left needs to be flipped over for the holes to line up. FWIW, I think I will be lucky to get $200 for my used 98 heads.
