Default Just finished H/C combo!

I just finished:

PRC 5.3L stage 2.5's
comp 224/224, .581/.581 112 LSA
Pacesetter race LT's
Ported TSP oil pump
Rollmaster Double roller
LS6 intake, etc....

On my 98'. She fired right up and held an idle for about 5 mins. Then It was having sort of a hard time idleing ( I know this is normal..).

Following LS1howto's instructions, I left the radiator cap open. While I has messing with the gas to keep her runnin'... she started spewing coolant out the radiator neck.

The car got up to about 210-220, so I shut it down mopped up the coolant, then added more.

Started her back up... Everything seems good. There was alot of steam coming from the coolant lines and cap, mainly. There is still a little coolant dripping from the motor and undercarriage, so it's hard to tell for sure if anything is leaking.

Sorry this is soo long... (just wanted to give a little background). I guess I'm just wondering exactly what I should be keeping an eye on for the next few hundred miles?

Thanks for any input

Air in the coolant system is quite common in heads/cam installs so no biggie there, but if once you get all the air out and the car maintains a steady/normal temp for a few minutes it should not be dripping any longer,if you have access to compressed air blow out all the run off where the radiator sits and if it still drips check all the clamps for tightness.

Cool! Hope you enjoy that combo.

Just be patient when bleeding the radiator. We don't have bleed screws like LT1's, and it will take awhile for all of the air to get out.

Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. You picked a very good combo. Let us know what kinda hp #'s it gets!

Monitoring the levels and keeping an eye on the temp gauge were the biggest things I watched. Seemed like it needed coolant/oil, etc. a few times until things got stable. Otherwise, I cannot complain. This has been one reliable setup for me. It'd be better if my car would take more timing, though!

How does the car feel power wise? Does it make more seat of the pants power?
