6.0 block vs 5.3 block?
I know that these motors are slightly different from the factory, but can they both be built up for bigger cubic uses? I was going to make a 408 out of a 6.0 block, but the block is damaged and I can't use it. I do have access to a 5.3 liter block. Are they similar enough that I could make that into a 408 motor or are they too different?

a 4.8 and a 5.3 use the same blocks just different cranks. You can take the stock 4.8/5.3 blocks to 3.898, and you might be able to take them to 3.905 at the most but I would have it sonically checked if you do that. 6.0 block is a totally different animal internally. Actually though if you wanted, putting sleeves in a cast iron block (don't know if anybody has done that to a 5.3 or a 4.8 yet) would be pretty simple for just about any machine shop to do. Alot of the older tractors use a "wet" sleeve which is basically what a darton sleeve is. I imagine that would be pie for most shops to pull off. Just a random thought.
