Crank Gear Removal
Well, I am in the process of trying to put on a new timing set and can't figure out how to remove the crank gear. Shouldn't it just slide off once I remove the oil pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just did this. I used the 5 ton long 3 arm puller from autozone. Came right off.
Then slide new one on, then the old one over it, give it a tap or two with a rubber mallet, pull the old one off and you're good to go!

Thanks!
I was hoping to get this thing together tonight (last night, whatever lol), but I guess it will have to wait until I can go get a pulley puller tomorrow.

I built a tool. Get some 3" wide by 1/8" thick steel. Use a torch and cut a slot with a radius as close to the radius of the crank just behind the gear.
You then drill two holes approximately 3 inches apart (dependent on your steerng wheel puller) so that when the plate slides behind the gear a line drawn through the two holes should cross the centerline of the crank. I used a steering wheel puller with two bolts through the holes in the plate fastened with nuts. It worked really well.
Good luck. You could also order a tool from Kenty Moore? ( I don't know if I've got that right) but it's pricy. Don't force it.
