What all effects lifter wear?
Let's break this down a little more. What increases or decreases your chance of lifter wear and failure?
-Oil vescosity?
-Spring pressure?
-Valvetrain weight?
-Valvetrain geometry (preload)?
-Lobe aggressiveness?
-Drilled v. non-drilled lifter trays?
I'm asking this because I looked at my cam, and the cylinders I can see, I don't see any abnormal wear, although I do have a few lifters w/ abnormal wear. Are the roller tips and cam made of the same material? If not, one will wear before the other does in theory, correct? If it turns out that the cam isn't bad, I need to find out why the lifters are and what I can do to remedy it.
