Oil pressure below 40!
At idle my oil pressure get below forty around 30 and cruising at 1500 revolutions its steady at a little above forty. My car has been doing this a while. I do have an oil leak from the oil or thats were i think is coming from. Could some tell me if need to be really worried and direct me what could be wrong with my car. I have about 143K miles and its been over a year that the car has been doing this. any help would be appreciated.

Well as a general rule..You only need to have 7 PSI per 1000 RPMS, 30 psi at idle is still good. These engines are much tighter than the old days, kinda like my wife...,, Just keep monitering the level and psi. I have seen my Aurora go below 10 psi at idle and that was normal for that engine.

what kind of oil are you using, if your using regualr oil i suggest possibly swapping over to synthetic like GC 0w-30 and see how your oil pressure is. my car on a cold start up is around 50 psi then drops after the car is warm and has been driven about 15-20 minutes, the oil gets warmer therefore thins out and lower pressure will occur. but as long as its above 40 psi while driving then you are good.
