Default Crane Hardened Spring Seat & Shims

Here's the deal. I had ny oem 2002 valve stem seals and I had the comp cams spring shims. They fit perfect.

Crane says get rid of the 2002 oem seals and I have now gotten the crane hardened seats. Problem now is that my shims can move around on the seat because the inside diameter of the shim is much larger than the raised lip on the inside of the crane seat.

I'm concerned the shims might move around at some point.

What did the rest of you guys do? Did you put the shims under the crane seat or on top of the crane seat? And did you find some other shims that fit w/o being able to slide around on the seat?

Why does this all have to be so complicated?

I am not sure I am following this, but if you have the Crane seats for their dual springs and the Comp shims, then the shims go under the seat and you must use the pre-02 valve seals. Hope this makes sense, if not let me know.

OK, I wasn't sure whether the shims went under the hardened seat or on top of it. I have the pre-02 stem seals to install.

I'll put the shims under the seat.

Hey, BTW, I saw a thread where I believe Tony Mamo and you were recommending getting the spring height closer to 1.750 than the recommended height of 1.8. Mine are exactly 1.8 with a .060 shim and the spring seat and .015 shims are the least thickness I've seen. Did you find some shims @ .005 or .010?

Smallest you will find is 0.015 for a spring shim.
