does cam match stall converter??
I am getting ready to install a Comp Cams XER273HR - 224/230 - .581/.588 w 1.7 rocker - 114 LSA. Question is I only have a TCI 3000 stall..Did I go a little high on the cam??? Is there an ideal range to match the stall to the cam? For example this cam runs in the 2k-7k range. Does it make sense to split that range to find the appropriate stall? In this case it would be like a 4500 which I know is WAY TO MUCH for the street.

performance wise as a rule of thumb your stall should come in 500rpm below your peak torque RPM. The stock motor peaks at 4000rpm, any bigger cam is going to peak higher than that. Get it dynoed, then find out where thats at, and go from there. I would lowball it though since you are wanting a street setup.

The 3000 is nice and tight and since you have the cam on a 114 it will be fine.
