No Oil Preesure NEED HELP
Just did a head and cam install and have no oil pressure. Checked sensor its not broken and checked pump everything looks right. its a new ported and polished ls6 pump and it has been shimmed for a double roller timing chain. Also i dont know if its the problem but i left off the front cover and balancer when i went to start it incase i needed to make any timing adjustments. this is a 98 ls1 ws6.

almost positive the o-ring is pinched. take the front cover back off and lower the pan get to the sump. replace that o-ring and make sure you go up easy and even with it when you put it back together.

You are trying to run the car with the front cover off and no balancer? Spinning the car by the starter wont show the oil pressure.
Having the front cover off isn't spilling the oil everywhere even while not running? The oil pan holds all of the oil and you can take the cover off without it spilling out?
Can an oil pump be changed without draining the oil?

Hi Folks
With the new ported and polished ls6 pump for a double roller timing chain, I would bet it is the O ring also. When I did my conversion, it was very hard to get the tube and the O ring back into the oil pump - very easy to cut the O ring. A lot work but install a new O Ring and save the time and pain.

I take the oil pump apart and install just the casting first it is ALOT easier to install correctly and you can see if the o ring is pinched very easily.
One "ported and coated" oil pump i installed had NO oil pressure at all. i took the cover off the oil pump and who ever did the work to the oil pump left out the pressure piston and spring. so the oil pump could not suck up any oil.
pull the cover off the pump and you can easilly see if the o ring is pinched and if the piston is there.
