Go with some good springs. I always hear that the LS6 cam is a smaller base circle(.050) requiring .050 longer pushrods, yet I had no probs with mine with stock pushrods.Been in there for about 25,000 miles.FWIW Id get a real cam (BIG) now for the power available. Good luck

flp longtubes, hooker catback, asp pulley, ported tb, ls6 intake, slp lid, and a tune... that was with a 1.61 60'. car is also a stripper car (havent weighed it though, so i dont actually know if its any lighter than normal.) only weight reduction was no back seat

Dude don't spend hours of install time to put in that cam...
I had that cam in my LS2 (LS2 comes with a LS6 cam) And I TOOK IT OUT!
You can still have a stock idle with aftermarket cams.... Seriously nplease look at all your options....
(Ls6 intake is a good idea though)

There is a noticable difference between the two.

Pushrods, springs, and retainers, along with the gaskets and stuff. While you are in there, I would go ahead and replace the oil pump and timing chain since its a 98 and prob has some miles on it. A lot of people put down the LS6 cam, most of the time, they are caught up on bigger cams. I had this cam in my car, and made 370/370 with an LS6 intake and headers. It was only street tuned once, and my exhaust was very restricted. I gained at least 10/10 with a cutout. If we would have had more of a chance to play with the tune, I could have probably seen 38x/38x with it, which is more power than a lot of guys are making with larger cams. Port your tb too, and gain another 5rwhp. If you are on a budget, this is by far the best bang for the buck.
