Default Who DD's a G5X3 or FMS 13 ???

Narrowed my cam choice down to these two. Whichever one will be on a 114. My general impression from reading about the two is the lg will make more high rpm power and the fms will make better torque? Just curious of the drivability of these cams in general. Preferably in an automatic. But any opinions are welcome!

Depends on the tune. My cam is/was fine around town. The biggest pain in the *** was the 4400 stall, but even that isn't a real big deal IMO.

I used to daily drive the F-13. Cam was very streetable. Requires a ton of timing in the tune.

I have the G5X3 and I love it. Once and awhile I have to deal with a little surge here and there, but usually due to the AC running and being 95 out or hotter. Love my cam. Oops not a TRUE daily driver, but 3 days a week minimum.

for the stall I'm wanting the yank ss3600 to go with either of these cams. Don't want anything bigger. How well would this stall work with these cams?? Keep the cam comments coming!

Sorry can't help you since you are driving an auto. I have no idea how she's gonna act in an A4. Good luck.

I had the F13 in my 383 for about 20K miles. Driveability was excellent around town.

I had the fm13 and it was great.

I know the x2 is close but I had it to for a short time. Was a lot harder to tune, noticed a loss of power on the low end(stock rearend). I could never figure out the surging at 1500.

And quite honestly the fm13 pulled harder thru the whole rpm range, bigger is not always better.

f13 112 in a m6 here. As mentioned earlier, both cams will need dedicated tuning. mainly for the low end bucking. I dont think its bad at all for a DD.

i don't know who told you the fms will make better tq,but i out hp'd and tq'd my buds fms cam with my LGx2 and x3 cam on the dyno. the x3 for me(m6)was a great cam, drove with no problems around town, idled great, not much shake and got me to 11.15@125mph at the track w/supporting mods(and tune) stock 3,600lbs weight. i now have the x4 and it drives the same as my x3,but more power. you'll love the x3. goodluck to ya.

dunno know about the F13, i daily drive my F14, and as stated above a little bit of surging sometimes especially when hot and the obligatory bucking in parking lots if i don't put the clutch in or keep my speed up a little. But i love it, very driveable, i imagine if i lived in louisiana instead of here in abilene tx, allan could probably line out the SLIGHT issues with the tune, but i didn't have time to hang around down there for him to get it perfect, i had to make the 10+ hour drive back. But great numbers and sounds BAD ***.

I am in Louisiana and daily drive the F14 as well. It does about the same as you stated a little bucking here and there, but it is normally very hot like 99 degrees lately and I have the AC on. It does not happen to often so I am not really worried about it much. The car pulls hard and gets great gas mileage as well. I have been as low as 900 rpms in 6 gear and the car will drive well even at low rpms.

I have not put more then 50 miles on the car since I put the X3 cam in.. My tranny let go.
But, I dont DD mine either. 112/114 both sound the same, IMO. Just the 114 peaks a little higher then the 112.

I daily drive my FM13, wish I had gone with a bigger cam. The car still drives fine, I dont even have to give it gas, just let the clutch out slow and it rolls. I wish I had gone with like an FM15 or bigger. I cant remember my exact numbers, they might even be in my sig but I think they were 440hp/415tq

I'm waiting on my F13 right now. Has anyone heard of any drivability issues with an auto? I'm getting it on a 112 (per Allen) because I'm keeping the stock 3.15's.
