Advice: Will I benifit changing my cam from a 224/224 580 114 lsa to a bigger cam?
Hey all:
I have been told by a few friends that I will gain alot of mid and top end if I change to a bigger cam.
I need some advice from everyone please.
My set-up
2002 Camaro A4 19K miles
Mods: All the bolt-ons, LT headers, TSP y-pipe with hi flow cats, magnaflow catback, Tea 5.3 heads stage 1.5 with dual springs, hardened pushrods, fuddle 3,000 stall with a fully built trans and 342 gears.
My cam is a 224/224, 580 lift, 114 LSA
I also have a NX wet system 75 shot.
Am I really leaving alot of power on the table and will I gain alot more power with a bigger cam?
Dont forget to leave cam specs on what cam you think would be best for my setup.
Thanks all

If you go with a bigger cam (230+ range), you'll also need a bigger stall, and shorter gears.
But, you could go with a couple of steps up, like 228/230 with higher lifts to keep a good percentage of your midrange trq and still benefit on top.
Something like a high lift FM11 if you get my drift
LSA would be determined to fit your head PTV clearance.
But forget about Cali emmissions

I went from the TR224 to the 228R. Really not much of a differance in either cam. Its about 10 RWHP. I did it because 10 more HP is all I wanted while adding the AFR heads. I was at 370 RWHP with the tr224 and all the bolt ons, so I guess im at 420RWHP given 10 RWHP from the cam and 40 RWHP from the heads. I havent dyno'd the car, but I think Ill be close to those numbers
