Default Wet engine, problems?

i was about to buy a 98 z28 with 114k miles when i found out that it was waiting to go to the mechanic....the lady at the dealership (small town) said that the engine got wet when they were washing it (i can only imagine that they were washing the engine bay).

my question is, once they "fix" the problems and the car is back on sale, would it even be worth it to buy? are there any serious problems that could be had from wetting the engine bay (besides wires, plugs, alternator, coil packs) that wouldnt show up until later?

the price is reallll good too, so im really considering it.....

thanks,
josh

I just got in from washing an engine bay for 20 minutes on a very expensive/built up Z28.

So-no doesn't hurt it.

I wash my engine regularly and no problems. But Im carefull not to get too much water under the intake, it might screw up the knock sensor(s)

no, it's not going to mess it up..if the service light comes on,let it dry out, then clear the code in the ecu with scanner or undo negative battery cable for 30 seconds.key off for battery cable..

You would be surrpised at how wet the engine bay gets when driven around in a rain storm. I wash my engine occasionally. Stay away from the CPU and the gap between the intake and valley cover - wet knock sensors and CPUs suk!

Use this as a negoitiating point. Tell the seller this is a serious problem and demand a steep discount.
