So not much talk about aftermarket oil pans eh? (Canton, Autokraft)
I'm kind of surprised, I did a search and found very little talk about aftermarket oil pans. I believe Canton and a company called Autokraft make some. I know all about dry sumps so let's not go off tangent.
Any real world experience with either, good or bad?

I've done a little research into them and asked some sponsors about them. they all said they are a waste of money. no real benefits over the stock pan and some have fittment problems.

Speed Inc sells the Moroso and Canton oil pans. http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=Engine..
Thunder has the Canton. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&sid=557#P4041
Both oil pans have trap door baffling for improved oil control and I believe they're both lighter too.
I don't have one. My oil pan is stock.

So far the only aftermarket pans I've seen are for straightliners. I was curious about the LS2 pan because it has more oil control baffling for roadracing or autocrossing, but I think the LS2 pan won't fit the F-body.

I'm about done with a new motor, and I asked about the aftermarket pans.. and was told it was a waste of time and $... I also asked about a girdle, and the jury was out on that one, Ken @ eastside said he had used oen once, because he needed more clearance in the pan for a alum rod stroker motor, but that was the only reaosn, and it had a leaking issue with the girdle on ( girdle shimmed down the pan for clearance )
The dry sump has advantages, but I think there's nothing to be gained really from changing to another style wet sump.

only reason why id see the usage of an aftermarket pan would be for more oil, or if you are doing a swap ie LQ4 into something, where you dont already have an LS1 oil pan. F body pans are something like $411 from GM, so even if you screwed up your pan, buying one from GM saves you at least $200 over an aftermarket that you dont really need....
i do however want to buy an aftermarket dry sump pan
