Default vavle springs

Got a quick question. Right now I have vavle springs good to .600 lift. Would it be OK to get a cam that has maybe a .602 or .609 lift? I just want to know if they will last me alittle while till I change the springs. How long would the ones I have last? THANKS JASON

6 months or 6 hours? Don't think anyone will be able to answer that one. Why risk it IMO. Either do the $250 springs now or who knows how much $ later. Just my .02.

i'd say they wouldn't last very long.

The life will likely be shorter than with a smaller cam but imo you'll be fine for quite a while. What you need to do is make a few calculations for the springs you have. Installed height, minus coil bind height, minus max lift. That number should be > .050. Depending on your cam lobe profile (if it's a really aggressive lobe), you may want to shim the springs to that number. But if your springs maintain good open seat pressure you may not have to. You should talk to the people you get the cam from and see what they recommend.

What is your spring setup? Can't even venture an answer without knowing everything. The max lift is based on a specific installed height, do you even know your installed height?

No, I have no clue about any of this stuff...LOL All I know is that the springs are the comp 918's. I plan on doing the better valve springs within 2 months but I am not sure if these will last that long.
