Damn it im not going to tell you again. You cant go wrong with either. Get the X3 on a 112 or get some ***** and go with the X4 on a 111. You are not going to have to flycut with either of them on stock heads. You can even pick up a set of unmilled LS6 heads, bump your compression .5 point and gain an additional 15-20hp.

Haha....that is the exact setup I have. G5X4 with stock LS6 heads....a pretty nasty setup for not so nasty of a price. I don't knwo what to expect in terms of dyno numbers, but I know Z06's have put down 450-ish rwhp with the same thing. Given that I have an A4 with a stall and gear, and I'm going to get it tuned on a Mustang dyno....I'm still hoping to get over 400rwhp.

my vote G5Xx4 and LS6 heads. there are plenty of LS6 heads being sold for $500-$750 on the corvetteforum some have 1000-1500 miles on them and are pulled off C6's which is the 243 casting. cheap combo or spend another $500 for a new set of LS6 stg 2 patriots.

Yes, the X4 will clear with unmilled ls1/ls6 heads.

Stock. Depending on mileage, have your stockers re-built. Aftermarket lifters are generally heavier, unless they are a stock replacement.

I put down 425rwhp/370rwtq here in AZ on a safe tune. **** gas and hot as hell. I think we pulled a total of 24-26 degrees of timing.

IF a G5X4 on a 111LSA clears on stock heads, I have no doubt that it is with way too little clearance to feel comforable spinning it as high as it needs to rev to get the optimal shift points. I say this because Louis said that a G5X3 on a 110 won't clear.

A X4 will clear on stock heads. I run it with a set of untouched Ls6 heads for added compression. I rev mine to 6800-7000.

If you worried about reving it, swap out the rod bolts.

The G5x4 is a great cam. I can't really complain about it at all. I wish it had a little more lope to it but it still sounds plenty aggressive. People will definitley know you have a cam.

sorta-kinda off topic: how do you change the rod bolts while the motor is in the car? do you have to drop the pan and k member?

Yup.

My motor has 41K miles and has always been pampered...oil changes with nothing but synthetic oil every 2K miles. I'm running stock lifters after I pulled them all out and checked them very carefully. Stock rod bolts too...I have an A4 street car, not looking to rev as high as possible.

8banger: have you dyno'd your car with this setup? I'd like to know where your setup peaked and where it fell off. Also, where did the fall off leave your shift point? I thought the X4 would spin way high.
