Maximum Coolant Temperature on LS6
Been wondering about this for a while. I have a 05' CTS-V with the LS6, and I have seen an average coolant temp of around 200° F at cruising speeds. But I have also seen it as high as 228° F at a stop on a 100° F day.
What do you guys think?
I am getting this reading from the digital readout I can scroll through on the steering wheel. The car runs fine and I have not heard one hint of detonation, EVER.
What is the maximum coolant temperature I should see? And when should I become worried.
My CTS-V is completely 100% stock.

I thought the CTS-V was an LS2?
Anyway, 228* is stock temperature before the fans come on fully.
You can get a thermostat and get your fans reprogrammed to come on early if you want lower temps.

No, 04-05 CTS-V's came with LS6. 06-Present CTS-V's come with LS2.
Thanks for the info. The car is at the dealer as we speak. There is a TSB on radiator replacement for CTS-V's. I am also gettimg a Low Coolant warning all the time. The service guy said I may have a leaky radiator that is losing pressure. We'll see the outcome.
