Default Stroker bottom with stock top end?

Has anyone here ever grenaded the bottom end and wanted to go bigger but only had the budget for the storker short block and put all the stock parts back on top? I know it's not ideal, but lets say just for fun. Would you have a total torque monster on your hands?

That's my story. First I had the 224 cam that was in stock shortblock. Swapped in TSP Giant but still running stock heads. Should have ported heads in the spring. LS6 intake.

Times so far

1.61 (spinning) 60'
7.13 @97mph 1/8

This is with a 383

How big a stroker? A stock cam is really gonna limit you. Its gonna run out of breath REALLY quick, IMO.

you would deffinatly be able to tell the diffrence

if you bought a 408 shortblock, and had the stock heads and intake and stuff on it you could replace them later no problem, just use head studs

if i was in your situation id for sure do it.

I'd do it to, but put a bigger cam in it, you can find a used one in the for sale section here for cheap.

At the least a 408. I'm sure it would run out of wind going through stock heads and exhaust. This is just hypothetical. Say a car puts down around 305/335 stock. What do yall think it'd do with the short block the only change?
Could be one hell of a sleeper to build on? Say long tubes later through a stock exhaust with cut out. Heads and Stealth cam?

If I had to guess... 305/335 stock... add bigger bottem end and you would probably see 320/450 give or take about 10 either way. My recommendation would be to start saving for other parts other than just heads... you start making big torque you start breaking more parts. Tranny's won't be happy. (auto clutch packs and M6 clutches, rear ends with good tires. Don't forget drive shafts tend to twist as well.) Believe me, I know... I think I've changed everything on my car except the washer fluid and wiper blades this year. Good luck!
