Default lowering compression...

is there a point of dominishing returns when trying to lower compression? like can you use TOO large of a gasket? how much can you open up a combustion champer on an LS1 head? and is there a way to take a certain dished piston and generate a larger dish without buying NEW pistons?

You can dish it more but you will weaken it very much. Not worth it.

If you go to big on the head gasket you increase the quench area and increase the risk of detonation. And it also makes it easier to blow the gasket too.

What Compression you trying to get anyway?

trying to get down around 9:1

but with the calculation it looks like i'm at 10.75

just had jumped on a deal for a shortblock before i really decided what i wanted to do, so now i'm seeing what the options are.

is there a way to make a stock head like 80cc combustion chamber size? or is this getting into "funky territory" and weakening the head itself
