Default Is it worth the money????

im a long way from being able to afford heads after buying all the stuff for this winter but i stumbled upon an add for ls6 heads in gmhtp. my question- is it worth the money to get the ported ls6 heads or just go with the regular ls6 heads? this is probably a dumb question but just plain ls6 heads are about half the price

What are your plans for the usage of the car and what is your projected HP output ?.. that should tell you if you need to go with the stock or ported head.

The stock heads will only get you so far.

im not doing heads for a while. its a dd, im a 21 yr old dad, going into the military in the near future....just not a time to go real crazy with the car. im not really hopin for #'s as much as a timeslip. im aiming for low 12's to high 11's eventually over time. with the mods im doing this winter + drag radials, i should be pretty close i think.

depending on your cam and stall selection you should definately be able to get the time slip you want. When you do your gears you should do a diff cover, and if you have a little extra $ then you should get an LS6 intake. I'm not 100% but the first year to get the LS6 intake was 01 correct? Patriot Performance is having a great sale on their ported LS6 heads right now. That would insure deep 11s with the correct suspension set up.
Good Luck
AJ

Thanks for considering service. We owe people like you more than can be expressed.

Word of advice on the heads.... You'll be VERY happy with the car when you get whatever it is you already have installed. Put it together, then wait until the bug starts to bite again, and see how things stand. Could be close to a year in a lot of cases. No point in stressing it now.

General rule of thumb is you never swap stock for stock.

Your going into the service, I wouldnt drop anymore money on the car until you get out or get done with training and get to a permanent base or something. The car will still be there, you dont need to spend money you wont enjoy for a while. Once you start its a money pit you cant get out of. You dont need that crap on your mind while your in training.
