Buddy's LS1 needs quieting down
My friend just bought a modded 98 camaro Z28 with the LS1 obviously.
Here is his engine set up:
Pacesetter Long Tube Headers with new OEM GM gaskets, 3 inch Off Rode Y Pipe with no cats and the 3 inch SLP Loudmouth 1 (Loudest Version available) with the dual 3.5" slash tips, 24 inch 02 extensions, rear 02's have been turned off with the tune, EGR Deleted, All Free mods completed, Racetronix 255 gph fuel pump, TREX cam with the dual 921 lift springs, hardened spring seats, hardened pushrods and valve spring retainers, full gasket kit for the cam swap. The car has a base tune and made 423 rwhp and 401 rwtq.
He recently bought a set of Pypes high flow cats and an SLP Loudmouth II to stick in there expecting it to quiet down a little bit. The cats were put in and the Loudmouth 1 was replaced with the loudmouth II (a glass pack) which is a hell of alot more of a "muffler" than the loudmouth I. We start it up and its still wicked loud. Don't get me wrong it sounds F***ing awesome, but this car has to be his daily driver and right now it feels like were cruising the streets in a NASCAR.
So maybe the loudmouth II wasn't a good choice, but what can we do to get it quieter???
