Default Cam decision...help please.

Ok, I've got it narrowed down to one of these 3 cam choices:

224/228 110+2 (.581/.588) IVO=4, IVC=40, EVO=46, EVC=2, ECL=112, OL=6
DCR=8.27
228/228 110+4 (.588/.588) IVO=8, IVC=40, EVO=48, EVC=0, ECL=114, OL=8
DCR=8.27
228/232 110+4 (.588/.595) IVO=8, IVC=40, EVO=50, EVC=2, ECL=114, OL=10
DCR=8.27

I am running stock heads and want power under the curve (around 400 RWHP). I want to get a good DCR, but not tons of overlap too...these are the best choices I could come up with. I don't think I want the extra valvetrain strain with running an LSK lobe. I will also be installing a set of Pacesetter LT's and ORY along with the proper valvetrain upgrades. Does anyone have any comments or better suggestions? Thanks.

I think that all 3 of these cams will perform within a few hp of each other. The 224/228 is a very popular cam and consitently puts up good #'s. There's a lot of people running that one, so I would choose between that or the 228/232. If its torque you're looking for, my vote goes to the 228/232, but that's just my $.02. You can't go wrong either way.

224/228 +2 sounds the best to me based upon what you've posted.

I agree with JBIRD02, I've got a 228/230 112LSA and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the input guys. I was more leaning toward the 224/228 cam because I thought it may be easier to tune with only 6 degrees of overlap. Would it be much more work to get the 228/232 (10 degrees overlap) setup tuned? I don't think I want to have to do a speed density only tune (delete MAF sensor). Would that be the case with more overlap?

A long time ago Predator Z recomended the 228/232 .588/.595 100+4 for me. I would have gone that route had I not have fallen in love with the LQ4...and that raises a new cam question for me some time soon
I bought a hotcam for $120 and its going in my 98 100k engine with all the other "fresh me ups" until an LQ4/L92/L76 combo gets stuffed in. Making over 400rwtq at 2200rpm with a mild cam aint no thang for a 6.0!

As I recall, the 228/232 .588/.595 100+4 is going to be pretty fun to tune. It will be a little more forgiving since you're an M6.
