Default RTV around the knock sensor plugs (search didn't answer my Q)

Any drawback to putting the high temp RTV around the parimeter of the plastic plug that protects the knock sensors? Seems like a better seal than the dam described in the TSB.

Maybe its a bad idea because IF water did get by the seal, it wouldn't dry so fast, thereby causing rust in a bad bad way.

Any thoughts?

Why couldn't I edit?

Anyway, by parimeter I mean actually putting the RTV on the plug. Not just around the outside.

There is actually a service bulletin on this due to knock sensor problems when the motor gets wet. Recommended fix is to build a dam of silicone around the knock sensor cover.
