Default looking for info on offset ground cranks

I've spent about an hour searching and cant find jack squat. I know years back they were talked about quite a bit, but I can find no information.

does anyone know how much it costs, how much it increases stroke and how much it weakens the crank?

this would be for a strickly NA application.

TIA

I know TSP used to have a offset ground crank option. I believe they gained about .100" stroke on a stock crank. When taking a 2.100" journal down to a 2", I don't think your really "weakning" the crank to much. Alot of high perfromance cranks run 2" journals. I do believe they need to be re-heat treated after cutting though. Not sure on the cost, but there are some nice rods out there for a 2" Journal.

cool, thanks. I'll give TSP a call.

if your going from 2.1 to a 2" journal that is only a .05 gain in radius, so I beleive that is only a .05 gain in stroke.

It's all on ONE side of the crank though. So you gain more.

well, TSP will no longer do offset ground cranks. I didn't get any info on why though.

I used to run one, .070 off set in my 393 motor. There is a place in ST.Louis that can do it.

The reason they don't do it much anymore is because the cost of stoker cranks has went way down when eagle started selling cranks. For the same cost you can have a 4in stroke. I was looking into it as well.

i am looking at this as well. smaller journal slows bearing speed. What cube can you get with a 4.030 bore and offset grinding to 2.0 journal?

You get about 9-10 cubes depending on your bore size.
